Navajo Woman Business Owner Breaking Ground in the Retail Trade Industry
in the Navajo Nation�s Largest Community
SHIPROCK, NEW MEXICO � Two new retail outlets, Shiprock Subway
and Navajo Ace Home Center have opened in Shiprock, New Mexico on the
Navajo Nation with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, September 12,
2003 and Public Grand Opening on Saturday, September 13, 2003.
Ms. Viviene Tallbull, owner and operator, breaks into the Retail Trade
Industry with the opening of the Navajo Ace Home Center and Subway Restaurant
in her community of Shiprock. Navajo Ace Home Center will employ 85 people
and the Shiprock Subway currently employs 14 people both are located
in the former Navtech Industrial Building adjacent to Highway 491.
Ayani Neez, Inc., Ms. Tallbull�s development corporation, leased
the industrial building with the Navajo Nation�s Division of Economic
Development with plans to open a Subway Restaurant and Navajo Ace Home
Center. Ayani Neez, Inc. also leases office space to Silver State Construction
Company, TANF-Northern Navajo Agency Center, Home for Women & Children
Administration, Navajo Nation Design & Engineering � Special
Project Office, Navajo Nation Youth Opportunity Programs, Navajo Nation
Risk Management Office, and the University of Utah.
The business site lease was negotiated with the Project Development
Department and approved by the Economic Development Committee of the
Navajo Nation Council and the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Navajo Regional
Office.
The Navajo Ace Home Center financing was through Grants State Bank of
Grants, New Mexico with a loan guaranty by the U. S. Small Business Administration.
