Business Site Lease Compliance

The Real Estate Department implements the Navajo Nation Business Site Leasing Regulations of 2005, assuming the authorities of the Bureau of Indian Affairs on management and enforcement of business site leases.  Subchapter 500 of these regulations gives the Real Estate the powers necessary to enforce lease terms, laws, ordinances, regulations, rules, policies, and covenants and its regulations are a part of the Division of Economic Development's Navajo Management Plan (for business site leasing).

The Compliance Officer works with the Division of Economic Development and other managing entities to ensure business site leases comply with all pre-eligibility requirements, post lease requirements, terms and conditions of leases and other leasing transactions. Our compliance staff works only with new Navajo Nation leases since 2008. Older leases are still managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs unless the lease has been novated to Navajo Nation regulations.

For specific information about the business site lease compliance process, contact the Real Estate Department.
