Shiprock RBDO Business Resources
The Shiprock Regional Business Development Office (RBDO) encourages
small business development in our service area. Our intent is
to develop and support Navajo
entrepreneurs in the Shiprock Region of the Navajo Nation.

Navajo
Tax Commission - The Navajo Tax Commission levies taxes on the
Navajo Nation. Small Businesses have the responsibility of
collecting the four percent (4%) Navajo Nation Sales Tax for the Navajo
Nation.

SBDC
- Rose Morgan, Sr. EDS with our office, serves on the Board of
Directors for our local Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
Their office provide similar assistance for small businesses in
Northwest New Mexico.

WESST Corp. - Our
office occasionally
works with the staff of WESST Corp. to provide trainings and workshops
for small businesses.

Better
Business Bureau - The Better Business Bureau serves San Juan County
and Southwest Colorado. Consumers can complain to the Better
Business Bureau about businesses. The Better Business Bureau
offers mediation services and trainings for consumer protection.

Trading Company - Foutz Trading Company, located on the Navajo
Indian Reservation in Shiprock, NM, is a distributor of Native American

Paper Bookkeeping
RBDO
Staff presented an afternoon training session about the development of
a paper bookkeeping system.
Many small businesses and entrepreneurs lack the accounting resources
to properly account for company funds and expenses. These
businesses and entrepreneurs have to keep a money management system to
account for their income to taxing authorities. Some banks will
also require businesses to provide financial records as part of their
lending programs.
